Why Terra Link

TERRALink Geothermal Heating/Cooling Systems

Top quality construction and materials: TERRALink manifolds are made of solid copper, Grundfos or Taco pumps, and solid brass mechanical components. With tough, reliable plastic loop pipe, and quality EPA approved Alcohol based antifreeze. All packages come with a full 1-year replacement warrantee Pumps, a 10 year replacement warrantee on all other components, and a 25-year warrantee (optional 50-year available) on earth loop tubing.

Ease of Design:
TERRALink eliminates engineering calculations required for pipe sizing, antifreeze concentrations, pump sizing and trench length/depths as we do it all for you in a convenient, Pre-Engineered Package. ART supplies specifications, detailed for your project location and soil type with every package, to ensure your projects success.

Flexibility of Loop Installation:
TERRALink’s closed loop design approach allows for any closed loop system to be installed.

Simple "Plug and Play" Start-up:
TERRALink’s "plug and play" manifolds require no flushing of loop lines or measured mixing of antifreeze. With the loops pre-filled with the proper concentration of antifreeze, simply connect TERRALink to a potable water supply, and the system will automatically fill and purge itself,

Easy to handle:
No more heavy coils of stiff, rigid tubing, which are difficult to work with, TERRALink’s piping is thick walled, yet pliable enough to be handled by a single person, and is sent pre-charged with simple compression fittings to connect to the manifold.

Increases operating efficiencies and eases field loop troubleshooting:
Differing pipe lengths, trench depths, crushed or damaged piping, backfill voids or differing sub soil conditions can cause some loops to absorb more of the loads than others, decreasing the effective heat saturation area, and causing heat pumps to work harder, and less efficient. This is a problem common to most installations, and has been found to reduce the operating efficiencies of units by 60%+, and in extreme cases, renders the heat pump in-operational. TERRALink allows for each loops flow rate to be adjusted to meet the peak operating efficiencies of any heat pump, by allowing manifold balancing during and after installation, to ensure the heat output of each individual field loop is optimized. In extreme cases, individual ground circuits can be shut off, allowing the HVAC system to continue to function to repair or replace a partial or non-functioning loop.

Direct electrical connectivity:
All units come with 230VAC pre-wired pumps or can include 120 VAC with relays and standard receptacle plugs (other voltages available), which can either be connected directly to most heat pump manufacturers compressor relays, or through the 24 VAC control circuits. (See individual heat pump manufacturers recommendations for relay power requirements or alternate output switching connections)

Lower Excavation Costs:
The loops of plastic TERRALink tubing that extend into the ground are not straight, but instead comprised of spirals, known as a "slinky loop". The loops are sent in standard coil lengths, which are often five to fifteen times longer, than current straight line runs. In this way they may be extended through a longer or shorter trench in the ground providing greater ground contact area. As the tubing has a small diameter, this reduces the turbulence loss, allowing for much longer pipe runs. As well, as the loops are considerably longer, this allows for the fluid to remain in the ground longer, which reduces the return water temperature difference from the entering water temperature from the heat pump. This means more efficient heat transfer to the soils over a greater contact area of excavation, allowing for reduced trench lengths, while maintaining increased heat transfer efficiency.

Expandable:
TERRALink manifolds easily adapt for increased heat pump requirements, add to loop, pump or heat pump manifolds quickly and easily without draining or dismantling the existing TERRALink installation, in less than one hour.

Adapts to any closed loop design possibility:
Horizontal slinky ground loops, including stacked loop runs, vertical single and double closed well loops, and raft or coiled pond loop variations are available, any closed, pond or earth multiple loop system design is possible.

Multiple Heat Pump Capability:
Installing more than one water source heat pump? TERRALink was designed for flexibility with extension balancing manifolds to meet any multiple unit requirement.

Eliminates costly fusion welding:
With no field piping connections underground or in inaccessible locations, the loop field bed has absolutely no couplings or fittings, and are continuous to the interior manifold. With standard brass compression fittings, and continuous field loops, TERRALink requires no fusion welding. Fusion welding of poly pipe is expensive and time consuming, requiring special knowledge and tools to complete and requires pressure testing to ensure connections are water tight.

Eliminates system flushing:
TERRALink was designed for simplicity. Simply plumb a potable water supply to the unit, and turn the water on. The system will fill, and air will automatically purge from the system. After a few minutes, simply turn on the pump(s), and TERRALink’s Micro Bubble air eliminator removes any remaining air, ensuring that all air is purged and continues to remove air during the life of the system. The domestic water supply is protected with a certified dual check valve, pressure relief valve, and pressure regulator ***some state codes may vary and require additional safety measures***.

Eliminates antifreeze installation:
With the loops already pre-filled with the required level of concentrated antifreeze, TERRALink eliminates the need to calculate, add or mix antifreeze in the system. Allowing the pump(s) to operate for a few hours, mixes the antifreeze with potable water sufficiently for unit heating operation.

Eliminate Guess work:
ART supply’s design specifications for your individual project for a variety of heat pump design efficiencies which includes minimal design specifications. This allows for increased heat pump design efficiencies simply by increasing trench lengths, depths or spacing to lower seasonal ground or pond loop returning water temperature differences.
